Celebrating our treasures.

Today we celebrate them children, little angels both big & small. They are all precious gifts from God. I gladly look forward to someday when I will have them. Dear Lord  please make it soon!...Lol.  I'm trying to picture their faces, beautiful little treasures growing in wisdom , in stature & in favor  with God and man just like Jesus did (Luke 2: 52).

My heart goes out to all the helpless and unfortunate children out there. Those with no special one to really love or care for them and guide them trough this rough world. God be with them.

It's children's day in Nigeria today.

It began with Ireland

Three  days now and the party's still on, colourful displays, fireworks in the air, sounds of popping champagne, young men and women drunk with fun & glee, John hugging and kissing David,  and Sandra kneeling on one knee right in the middle of the cheering crowd to propose to Jane.

"Ireland became the first nation to approve same-sex marriage by a popular vote, sweeping aside the opposition of the Roman Catholic Church in a resounding victory on Saturday for the gay rights movement"
With the final ballots counted, the vote was 62 percent in favor of legalizing same-sex marriage, and 38 percent opposed.
The pro-gay marriage vote captured headlines around the world, with celebrities praising the outcome.

What more can I say, God's word is very clear on homosexuality (Mark 10: 6-9, Lev 20:13, Rom 1:27, I Cor 6:9 ). Last time I checked my bible, it was Adam & Eve I saw as God's created couple, not Adam & Steve or  Ada & Eve!....It began with Ireland,  End time major agenda fully in progress!

The Cat behind the window

Is it mere coincidence? Or could it be the same cat that was seen just behind the window the night before. 
This question raced through my mind as I quickly strolled past the dead cat in the gutter in a hurry to catch up with the early Sunday morning church service.

One night, while I was on vacation at grandma’s apartment somewhere in Enugu, south eastern Nigeria, I was awakened by the sound of mama firing prayers in the blackness of the night.  With my eyes still battling with sleep I could barely assimilate  what she was saying although I think I heard her say  “You demonic cat, I command the holy ghost fire to strike you dead right now in Jesus name!”

In the morning, She told me she was awakened by  the “meow” of a large scary looking cat standing outside her window frame. The apartment was on the 2^nd floor of a storey building and there were no nearby trees, structures, or stair way so I wondered how the cat got itself up to that window.

If you are African, you would know the general perceived significance of a cat by your window in the dead of the night. It can send chills down the spine of even a prayer warrior...Lol.  The next morning a dead cat lay in the gutter just in front of the gate of grandma’s compound. Hmmm...  really mysterious.

The 500 Year - old Frozen Inca girl.

This 15 yr-old Inca girl was sacrificed 500 years ago on mount Llullaillaco (in Northern Argentina) to the sun god along with two other children.
 She has been lying all through the centuries frozen in ice until she was  discovered in 1999 by a team who battled  for 3 days to reach the summit 220,000ft above sea level. They were found with an extraordinary collection of gold silver, shell statues and pots containing food.

The frozen body was reported to be among the best preserved mummies ever found, with internal organs intact, blood still present in the heart and lungs, skin and facial features almost intact. She looked as though she just recently died. There was no special preservation done on her, the cold and the dry air kept her frozen.

The Inca people were of the Incan empire, largest empire in pre- Columbian America. The administrative, political and military center of the empire was located in Cusco in modern-day Peru.

Ritual killings were common in the Incan culture. It is believed that the maiden was chosen for her beauty and sacrificed to the sun god in a ceremony called capacocha. According to Johan Reinhard, a U.S archaeologist and expedition member, children were chosen as sacrifices because  they were considered to be the most pure. Being sacrificed was considered to be a great honour, a transition to a better life from where they would communicate with the humans through shamans (holy men)

Since the discovery, the body has been kept in freezers. Scientists have been carrying out series of test and research on it.
What a scary sight to behold at a museum, a 500 years old mummified girl sitting cross-legged in a freezer in her brown dress, her long hair woven into many fine braids as she sleeps forever...I’m having a chill down my spine already, hope I don’t see her in my dreams tonight.

Therianthropy (Shape shifting)

Derived from the Greek word “Therion” meaning beast and “Anthropos” meaning human. It is used to refer to beings that are partly humans and partly animals. 
It was used to describe creatures in mythology and folklore. Different forms include; Lycanthropy (Man-wolf), Cyanthropy (man-dog), Ailuranthropy (man-cat) etc.

In the western world like in Europe or America theriantropy is a quite controversial phenomenon. The belief is not commonly embraced and those who believe in it or claim to practice it may be considered mentally disordered/insane.

For a long time, this phenomenon has astounded me. Growing up in a deeply spiritual African society I have heard eye witness accounts of witches and wizards taking the form of birds, bats, cats, dogs, spiders, rats and even cockroaches to visit some of their enemies and oppress them. To be frank I too have had my personal experiences but God has been my shield and guardian.  

Sometime Last year in Lagos, Nigeria . A bird reportedly turned into a woman . According to eye witnesses , the bird collided with an electric wire and fell, after which it changed into a middle aged woman and began to confess on how she killed her husband. Only God knows!

 I find myself wondering how man created in the image of God would condescend so low as to take the form of an ugly bat, cat or a smelly cockroach. Despite my experiences I still consider this phenomenon a mysterious one that modern science cannot explain.

Irma Grese

Irma Ida Ilse Grese (born 7 October 1923, Wrechen, Free State of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Germany – died 13 December 1945, Hamelin, Germany) was employed at the Nazi concentration camps of Ravensbrück and Auschwitz, and was a warden of the women’s section of Bergen-Belsen. She was convicted for crimes against humanity at the Belsen Trial and sentenced to death. She loved torture via different painful methods and wore heavy boots as a habit. She also carried a pistol for the facilitation of her various purposes. Executed at 22 years, 67 days of age, Grese was the youngest woman to die judicially under English law in the 20th century, on 13 December 1945, Hamelin, Germany. She was nicknamed “the Beast of Belsen”, “The Beautiful Beast”, and “Die Hyäne von Auschwitz”

Myra Hindley


Born in the year 1942, Myra Hindley was an English serial killer. In partnership with Ian Brady, she committed the rapes and murders of five small children. Together these two monsters were responsible for the kidnapping, sexual abuse, torture and murder of three children under the age of twelve and two teenagers, aged 16 and 17. Hindley’s 17-year-old brother-in-law tipped her off to the police. Hindley plead not guilty to all of the murders. She was found guilty of three murders and was jailed for life. She was never released, and died in prison in 2002.

Isabella of Castile

Born in the year 1451 and died in 1504, Isabella the Catholic, was queen of Castile and León. She and her husband, Ferdinand II of Aragon, brought stability to the kingdoms that became the basis for the unification of Spain. Isabella and Ferdinand are known for completing the Reconquista, ordering conversion or exile of their Muslim and Jewish subjects and financing Christopher Columbus’ 1492 voyage that led to the opening of the “New World”. Isabella was granted the title Servant of God by the Catholic Church in 1974.

Beverly Allitt


The Angel of Death, Beverley Gail Allitt is an English serial killer one of the 10 most evil women.  She was convicted of murdering four children, attempting to murder three other children, and causing grievous bodily harm to a further six children. The crimes were committed over a period of 59 days between February and April 1991 in the children’s ward at Grantham and Kesteven Hospital, Lincolnshire, where Allitt was employed as a State Enrolled Nurse. She administered large doses of insulin to at least two victims and a large air bubble was found in the body of another, but police were unable to establish how all the attacks were carried out. In May 1993, at Nottingham Crown Court, she received 13 life sentences for the crimes. Mr. Justice Latham, sentencing, told Allitt that she was “a serious danger” to others and was unlikely ever to be considered safe enough to be released. She is detained at Rampton Secure Hospital in Nottinghamshire.

Queen Mary I of England


Mary I, born on 18 February 1516 and died on 17 November 1558. She was Queen of England and Ireland from July 1553 until her death. Her brutal persecution of Protestants caused her opponents to give her the sobriquet “Bloody Mary”. She was the only surviving child born of the ill-fated marriage of Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon. Mary is chiefly remembered for temporarily and violently returning England to Catholicism. Many prominent Protestants were executed for their beliefs leading to the moniker “Bloody Mary”. Fearing the gallows a further 800 Protestants left the country, unable to return until her death.

Belle Gunness


Standing six feet tall and weighing over 91 kg, a physically strong woman, Belle Gunness was one of America’s most degenerate and productive female serial killers. She was an imposing and powerful woman of Norwegian descent. It is likely that she killed both her husbands and all of her children at different times, but it is certain that she murdered most of her suitors, boyfriends, and her two daughters, Myrtle and Lucy. The motive was greed-pure and simple; life insurance policies and assets stolen or swindled from her suitors became her source of income. Most reports put her death toll at more than twenty victims over several decades, with some claiming in excess of one hundred. Inconsistencies during her post mortem examination; the corpse was reported to be two inches shorter than Belle’s six feet, paved the way for Belle Gunnes to enter American criminal folklore, a female Bluebeard.

Mary Ann Cotton

Britain’s first serial killer, Mary Ann Cotton, born in October 1832 in Low Moorsley, County Durham. Married at age twenty to William Mowbray, the newlyweds settled in Plymouth, Devon, to start their family. The couple had five children, four of whom died of ‘gastric fever and stomach pains’. Moving back to the north-east, tragedy seemed to follow them; three more children born, three more children died. William soon followed his offspring, dying of an ‘intestinal disorder’ in January 1865. British Prudential promptly paid a 35 pound dividend, and a pattern was established. Her second husband, George Ward, died of intestinal problems as well as one of her two remaining children. The power of the press, always a force to be reckoned with, caught up with Mary Ann. The local newspapers discovered that as Mary Ann moved around northern England, she lost three husbands, a lover, a friend, her mother and a dozen children, all dying of stomach fever. She was hanged at Durham County Gaol, March 24, 1873, for murder by arsenic poisoning. She died slowly, the hangman using too short a drop for a ‘clean’ execution.

Ilse Koch


Born on 22 September 1906, Ilse Koch, known as “Die Hexe von Buchenwald” the Witch of Buchenwald, or “Buchenwälder Schlampe” the Bitch of Buchenwald, was the wife of Karl-Otto Koch. She was one of the first prominent Nazis to be tried by the US military. Drunk on the absolute power rendered by her husband, she reveled in torture and obscenity. Infamous for her souvenirs; tattoos taken from the murdered inmates, her reputation for debauchery was well earned. After building an indoor sports arena in 1940, with 250,000 marks stolen from inmates, Ilsa was promoted to Oberaufseherin or “chief overseer” of the few female guards at Buchenwald. She committed suicide by hanging herself at Aichach women’s prison on September 1, 1967.

Katherine Knight


Born on 24 October 1955 and continues to serve life long sentence in the prison, Katherine Mary Knight was the first Australian woman to be sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. She had a history of violence in relationships. She mashed the dentures of one of her ex-husbands and slashed the throat of another husband’s eight-week-old puppy before his eyes. A heated relationship with John Charles Thomas Price became public knowledge with an Apprehended Violence Order that Price had filed against Knight and ended with Knight stabbing Price to death with a butcher’s knife. He had been stabbed at least 37 times, both front and back, with many of the wounds penetrating vital organs. She then skinned him and hung his “suit” from the door frame in the living room, cut off his head and put it in the soup pot, baked his buttocks, and prepared gravy and vegetables to accompany the ‘roast’. The meal and a vindictive note were set out for the children, luckily discovered by police before they arrived home.

Elizabeth Bathory


Born in 1560 and dying in 1614, Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed was a countess from the renowned Báthory family of nobility in the Kingdom of Hungary. She has been labeled the most prolific female serial killer in history, although the number of murders is debated, and is remembered as the “Blood Countess.” She was the infamous serial killer of Hungary. She used to kill peasant girls through severe beatings, burning, mutilation of body parts, chewing off the face etc. She was on house arrest and was not put to trial because of her status!

They are always asking for something

It’s not that they don’t have

They always want more

Though you gave them enough

As if it wasn’t  worth it

When they say thank you

It’s not from their heart

They go around saying you did not give

They accuse you of being selfish

Even when you’ve given all to them

They think you have not noticed

After all you’ve given to them

They have a big problem, but they don’t know it

It is the “Give me” syndrome

Despite what they have or how much you do for them

Some people will always beg because it’s in them.

Meet the “China doll” bride

Meet Mrs Rebecca Dinsdale, the  3ft 7in bride who has broken every single bone in her body and yet defied medics by walking down the aisle, first time she ever walked.

The 31- year old bride was born with a congenital disorder, brittle bone disease.  She is reported to have all the bones in her body already broken at birth. When she was born, her parents were told she had little chance of surviving childhood but she did. She has been on wheel chair all her life as her bones were so fragile (thus the nickname "china doll") that even a sneeze can break one. Growing up wasn't so easy because she was bullied, pointed at and laughed at in the streets.

Who would have known that such true love would come her way. Rebecca worried that she might never get married until she met her prince charming Norman on the net in 2005. Norman proposed in 2011 and they got married in July 2014.  She surprised him on the wedding day by walking down the aisle to meet him.

Here’s what the happy groom had to say about his wife. “I’m so happy to call Becky my wife. I don’t see her disability as an issue or something that affects our relationship. She’s perfect for me”

Awww! That's so sweet!...who says true love doesn’t exist. If God says it’s your time, then that’s it!

Brittle Bone Disease

Imagine what you’d be like if you were born with all your bones broken? Yeah, that’s right! Some people are born that way. They have a rare genetic disorder known as oesteogenesis imperfecta , Lobstein syndrome or brittle bone disease.

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) means that the bones in the body are imperfectly formed, as a result they are very fragile and  break easily. The disease can be mild or severe. In severe cases, the person suffers from respiratory or heart failure, hearing loss, spinal cord and brain damages, and even permanent deformities

WHAT CAUSES  BRITTLE BONE DISEASE?

Brittle bone disease is caused by a genetic defect that affects the production and formation of type 1 collagen, a protein used to create bone. The defective gene is usually inherited, but sometimes it due to spontaneous mutation. It is not caused by insufficient calcium or poor nutrition.

There are 4 types of OI. Those with type 2 may die in womb or shortly after birth due to respiratory problem, type 3 has a shorter life span, types 1 and 2  have almost normal lifespan but they require wheel chair or crutches to walk

SYMPTOMS

Symptom varies according to type and severity, all sufferers have fragile bones. Other symptoms include;

·         Short stature

·         Multiple broken bones

·         Loose joints

·         Weak teeth

·         Blue sclera (i.e discolouration of the white of the eye)

·         Scoliosis (abnormal curvature of spine to the sides)

·         Hearing loss

·         Respiratory problem

·         heart  defects

HOW  CAN  ONE  DETECT IT ?

There is no definitive test for it

·         X-rays to view broken bones

·         Ultrasound during pregnancy also shows broken bones

·         Lab test (skin biopsy) to analyse  structure and quantity of type 1 collagen

·         Genetic testing to trace source of defective genes

TREATMENT/MANAGEMENT

·         Brittle bone disease has no cure. However, there are therapies that can help increase overall bone strength thus reducing the risk of fractures also increase mobility.

·         Pain relievers, antibiotics, antiseptics.

·         Biophosphonates can improve bone mass and reduce pain and fractures.

·         Low impact exercises to help build bone

·         Reconstructive surgeries to correct bone deformities. Rods are placed inside bones especially to help the child walk

·         Mental-health counselling to tackle cases of low self esteem and depression.

·         Next time when you look at your height, that face of yours, or that leg which you feel is not as smooth or straight as you wished, remember there’s someone out there praying to look like you. We are all made in God's image.  (now I know I’m actually talking to myself too)

The Mammoth

The Mammoth is a specie of the extint genus mammuthus, proboscideans commonly equipped with long curved tusks and the bodies covered with long hairs. 
The African mammoth (M Africanavus) lived many years ago (about 5 million years ago till about 4,500 years ago) in Africa, Europe, Asia and North America (1,2). They disappeared about 3 to 4 million years ago. Remains of the mammoths have been found.

Like modern elephants, mammoths were quite large, up to 4m (13 ft) at the shoulder and weigh up to 8 tonnes. Dwarf form of mammoth are also known from fossils found on islands: M. Exilis.

The typical modern day elephant;

• Spends 16 to 18 hrs a day either feeding or moving around
• Consumes between 130 to 660 pounds (60 to 300 kg) of food every day
• Produces between 310 to 400 pounds (140 to 180 kg) of dung per day
• If the mammoths were larger than modern day elephants, the figures must have been higher

Scientists are currently discussing the use of preserved genetic materials to create living mammoth specimens. A Harvard university team is already attempting inserting some mammoth gene (from frozen mammoth bodies) into modern elephant. If it is possible for them to combine the DNA with elephant cells (3, 4) and the cells become viable, they might be able to create a viable mammoth hybrid embryo by inseminating an elephant egg invitro....all this genetics and biotech stuff!

12 Common Lies Men Tell.

After I wrote the article on "10 Lies that women tell'', a friend of mine was like, ''Chi, why are women such pretenders?'' and I was like ''hmm..no comment''. Well, single ladies, here are some of those dangerous lies that he'll probably tell you, guess you've heard some of them a thousand times!

1)  I'm single (available & seriously searching if I might add); Most common lie told by single and married men. It's unfortunate that many single ladies fall for such men only for their hopes to be dashed by the knowledge of an existing woman somewhere.

2) You are the only one;  It's probably not the first time he's saying it to someone & you're probably not the only one, but many men say that to melt a lady's heart. In that way you can give him all of you.

3)  I Love you; One of the biggest lies!, Men will say it  just to get you, truth is that he doesn't have to tell you for you to know. True love shows itself in the way he treats you, talks to you, regards you and everything concerning you. If he says it out, he should only be confirming what your heart already knows.

4) You are the prettiest woman I've ever known; Don't get your head all swollen up, there are a billion beautiful women in the world and he's probably seen many of them

5) I'll be coming to meet your parents soon;  It's possible that the impression he just wants you to have here is ''I am his wife to be after-all, I might as well give him my everything ".

6) I'm not interested in your body; Oh please!  tell that to my foot! only about 5% of men who say it mean it. He's probably saying it to gain your trust & also take your mind off sex so you won't get too suspicious when he begins to implement his sex moves.

7) you are the best among my ex; don't be so naive! he could still tell that to the next girl after you.

8) She's my cousin;  €Oh really! and yet she calls him every time, visits his office regularly, sends him secret text messages etc. She might just be his cousin for real anyway, but if she's not, you yourself will feel it in your bones.

9) I'm sorry it'll never happen again;  You are lucky if you have a man that says it and means it. For some, it's just the right words to shut your nagging mouth up only until he does it again.

10) My Mama thinks or says....;  When some men are done with a girl, the honey is exhausted, and  they feel they need a fresh girl or its time to settle with a "wife material". They come up with stories of  "Mama thinks we are not good for each other" crap or "mama thinks you are too old for me". A matured man should be able to speak for himself

11) I can Fix it;  He's just a man, he ain't God. Most men like to feel in charge of everything. He doesn't have a  job, his ex- is pregnant for him even though he claims its over between them, yet he's asking you to marry him and his messed up life that he will work everything out soon. Run girl!

12) I'm broke;  I'm not the type that believes a lady should depend on a guy for survival (wives inclusive). But one thing I hate is when a guy keeps resounding it to your ears "I'm broke", or "I have no money", even when you've never asked. Many men believe that every girl that comes around them is a gold digger, even men that have never smelled gold! They probably are trying to zero your mind towards their bank account and achievements. Many men hide their success. Girls, please get a life for yourself and save yourselves from such shallow minded men.
